The life adds to itself another day
As comes dancing through the window each sun ray
I can't take it anymore for it is so bright
That i curse myself for being up so late last night
And there was no such reason
Clearly I was lacking vision
So as the events unfold, there i discover
that i have no time to recover
And regularly as they occur it feels as if it's all surreal
There i am, choking in my confined space
And then begin to wonder if it is all real
But looking in the mirror reveals a frowning and gloomy face
So it's all reality and dearly do i wish that beside me were you
Right now and there i find myself screaming too
Where have you gone, the spirit of my soul
It's all void out here so please come back n play the role
To help me live my life once more
And heal the maladies as they have made it so sore
So I m perceived to be this decent and shy kid
Who won't go ever for any bid
So there i am, lagging behind and paying the price
There's no belief and it's all cowardice
And now the scene's over and there i get drowned in the world of fantasy
As to how i could and did and said the perfect things to attain ecstasy
Log in to facebook do i and time and again fall into a stupor
Wishing the angels would be babbling away with me and make i will them flatter
There i get a jolt and the world appears to be a cruel foe
It's all about me and no one else and no one's patronous will be a silver doe
No i don't need the world i decide; i have my close pals n dear ones
But i am still missing you in the quest to thrive under the thousand suns
It's all so messed up and so routine and i am getting sucked into the mire
So there i find myself screaming again, for the aftermath would be so dire
Where have you gone, the spirit of my soul
It's all void out here so please come back n play the role
To help me live my life once more
And heal the maladies as they have made it so sore

Then n Now
Then I was a kid so small
'as engrossed with a bat n a ball
Dreaming about becoming another Sachin
But turning almost tearful when out got the Indian Run Machine
And as the rest behind him rallied back ever so faithfully
I still clung on to the TV stubbornly
Well that was Indian Cricket then
Which was more of a pain
But now it has become so mundane
For defeats have become as rare as the punctuality of Indian trains
Then riding a bicycle was a big source of exhilaration
But now tender hands cannot even resist the pulsar temptation
Then telephonic conversations were rare and landline dominated
But cellphones now galore in every pocket
And yes, so upwardly were the bottom-wear
That got hidden even the navel dear
Today is the era of the low-waist
But dearly I wish to make the Readers' experience painless
Yes, then it was the decade of the nineties
When India was just beginning to stand amongst the mighty
Last, but not the least, then had this been written
It would have been sans manipulations but epitomized innocence.

Off course the list is endlessBut dearly I wish to make the Readers' experience painless

Reveille: An introduction
Hi.. I'm Siddhartha Mitra. I'm an undergraduate student, doing BE in Computer Science & Engineering from Haldia Institute of Technology near Kolkata, West Bengal, India and currently in my sixth semester.
Now, blogging is a topic that has exceedingly interested me ever since I heard and read about Mr. Amitabh Bachchan's blogs. Apart from that, the whole concept of blogging appeared to be quite catchy. Of course , the contribution of celebrities cannot be ignored in this respect. Blogging provides a medium for a common man to express himself on topics plaguing the society. I feel it is a wonderful platform where any citizen of the country can put forth his or her ideas on various issues encapsulating a wide range of topics in different fields such as in technology, economy, politics, etc.
The intention was always there to blog but being a habitual procrastinator that I still am (though I'm trying to improve), the launch was deferred just as most of the government projects get postponed here in India. However finally, I managed to step out of my comfort zone and have started.
Now abut the name of this blog. I have decided to christen it as "Reveille", which is basically a bugle call most often associated with the military; it is chiefly used to wake military personnel at the crack of dawn . The name comes from "réveille" (or "réveil") the French word for "wake up".
Why this tag line? I believe there is a soldier in all of us who happens to be dozing off in quite a few of us and as 'Aamir-DJ-Khan' would say in the film Rang De Basanti: "ज़िन्दगी जीने के दो ही 'तरिक्के' हैं; या तो जो हो रहा है होने दो, कुछ मत करो; या फिर ज़िम्मेदारी उठाओ और बदलो उस चीज़ को...". Are we truly happy and satisfied with our lives and what is going on around us? I don't think that everyone could agree on that to say the least. We all deserve a second chance. So for every disappointing & sinful yesterday, we have today and yes, we also have tomorrow for which have today.
Well, enough of philosophy then. This is my first blog and I sincerely hope that the readers find it interesting and suggestions and constructive criticism would always be welcomed.
Happy Reading!
